“I’m 26 and work as a DJ in Coyote, a suburban discoteque in my home city of Santiago, Chile. Most people there know me as Roberta, although my friends call me ‘Punto’ because of my small stature. Am I a transvestite? Oh! It’s a secret because I don’t want to kill the fantasy – but the truth is near…
The ‘La Pequeña’ alias began when a famous and divine Spanish transvestite singer called La Prohibida visited Chile to do TV appearances and a tour of clubs. My friends Felipe Avello (director and comedian) and Ximena Wiesenfeld (costume designer, make-up artist and producer) and I wanted to do a tribute to La Prohibida on a programme called Canal Copano,
so we made the first La Pequeña Prohibida video.
We checked YouTube and there were hundreds of comments, so we made the La Pequeña Amy Winehouse video as a follow-up. It all took off from there.
The people at the discotheque recognise me now and give me congratulations all the time. I’m coping with fame in a relaxed way, but when I’m drunk I feel like a little diva! My dream is to meet Amy Winehouse.”
